Tal Ronnen

Yesterday my mother and I went to a dinner/book signing with Tal Ronnen at Follow Your Heart. He made this amazing 3 course dinner and afterwards did book signing. The first course was a Tomato Bisque Soup served with focaccia bread. Wow I could've had the whole pot of that soup! The 2nd course was this Gardein Chicken with this sauce with "lobster" which was very yummy. The 'chicken'was almost scary because it tasted very real. The chicken was served with steamed kale with garlic on it which I really enjoyed. It also came with little potatoes which were just as yummy. Last but not least was the dessert: Date Cake. Mmmmm, but I was so full by this time (not to mention I ate a whole bag of Have'a chips beacuse I was starving!!) I had to take some of the cake home. The best part was getting to meet Tal Ronnen himself!! He's like an idol to me and he was so nice and modest. I wish I could've talked to him more and asked him some questions but there was a line of anxious vegans so that'd be a little hard. (But worth it!) That was the place for star sightings too! We saw one of the authors of Skinny Bitch with Ginnifer Goodwin who's the most cutest thing ever!!!!!! Her hair is sooo adorable! (Its short) We also saw a tattoo artist from LA ink who's not really a star but I guess he's well known haha. Anyways, that dinner was amazing and I'm so glad I went!

Haiti

Wow. A terrible earthquake hit Haiti over a week ago and they NEED help. I'm doing bake sales to raise money for Haiti. It'll be kind of like an experiment to see how much sell and tell me if I have potential. Please, if you have any spare time do things for Haiti! They need all the help they can get. xoxoxo, Clara

Follow Your Heart

Is Follow Your Heart not the most home like feeling place for a Vegetarian or Vegan? The food there is sooo good and unlike places in the hip parts of Los Angeles, its not pretentious. I wouldn't suggest the nachos there but I would suggest the Angel Hair Pomodoro. You can get it with pesto which I always get because its so good. The potatos are also really tasty. I suggest the chili potato vegan or not. They've got tons of vegan options so its nice to go somewhere and be able to get pretty much anything. I cannot forgot about the desserts! I always get a slice of chocolate cake. Its amazing, the outer layer is this dark chocolate frosting and the inside has vanilla and chocolate frosting. The picture shows it all. If you live in the valley or near it I highly suggest Follow Your Heart.

babycakes

Yesterday my mother and I spent our Sunday in L.A.. Thank god!! I needed to get out of our little suburb town. We went to breakfast at Meet Market which is a vegetarian cafe' that has a breakfast (vegan) buffet. We filled ourselves up! I loaded my plate with potatos, cinnamon-ey pancakes, fruit, tempeh bacon, and fake meat. Mmmmm I almost got thirds but I remembered we still had to go to Babycakes which is a vegan bakery that has gluten free items and some things are sweetend with agave syrup. We got 2 brownie bites ( the best thing there), 2 cookie sandwiches which were just okay, the cookie wasn't flavorful. It just tasted like frosting and chocolate chips. We also got a red velvet cupcake which wasn't very impressive. It was very dry and when I was eating it, it felt very thick and heavy. The chocolate cupcake was the same thing. The frosting made most of the items better since most of the things weren't very flavorful. We got a cinnamon donut which we just had for breakfast which was pretty good. The service was very unimpressive. We got these bratty looks thrown at us, no smiles. We bought alot of stuff, they could at least give us good service. I would describe the service as: I'm a vegan hipster and I'm so much better than you. All and all the hype about this place is not worth it. In my opinion they should've worked on there recipes before selling a batch that tasted like a bad batch of my cupcakes. For advice for people in L.A.: Go to the farmers market in Hollywood and get baked goods (vegan) from C'est La Ve!! Way friendlier owners and WAY better food. Goodluck to babycakes, though!

Back To School

School started yesterday. I was happy to see all my friends but once I get to history class I'm thinking," I'm out of here." Don't worry I would never ditch hahaha. Once I actually get into the routine of things again learning is kind of fun. I mean if you think about it school is such a privilege and your learning 6 subjects a day for free. I guess that's the National Junior Honor Society in me :)))). Anyways, I'll talk about the outfits in my casual school. The typical outfit is a baggy sweatshirt, skinny jeans, converse/vans. I really stand out hahaha..... Some of the girls dress cute but like I said my school is casual. Now that I have school I'll have alot more to blog about.

Valentino:The Last Emperor

A couple nights ago I watched a documentary up for awards about Valentino. Its called Valentino: The Last Emperor. It was really well done and it made me have a great respect for the brand because every piece of fabric has so much work put into it. All the gowns are made by hand by the fussy, cool, seamstresses. I thought it was great when Valentino and his partner come in to check on how the gown was going and showed how much they really care about their brand. Its like their baby, it touched me when Valentino was crying when they were selling the company. I can only imagine the pressure and stress. This movie inspired me to become a designer and really just follow my every instinct.
