October Playlist

My lack of posting on here is insanity. I am so sorry. Basically, I've been caught up with high school (eeek!), film class, a zine workshop, baking, and well, yeah. I'm just really annoyed that I haven't been updating this blog when I do have free time. What's important (I guess) is that I'm doing it NOW! Since October is in four days I'm going to post a playlist for October!

It has been a pretty exciting month for music. Dum Dum Girls released a new album, Only In Dreams, Wavves released a new EP, Life Sux, and, well, most importantly it's been 20 years since Nirvana's Nevermind came out! Pretty crazy month in music. Oh, yeah, did I mention I get to see Dum Dum Girls play this week?! So stoked.

Here's the October playlist!!

1. NIRVANA- Territorial Pissings
So it's been 20 years. I wasn't alive then, I really envy anyone who was. Nirvana is amazing, that's all. I definitely think this is one of their best songs, but I also think that all of their songs are their best songs.

2. NO AGE- Teen Creeps
I definitely believe that No Age are the Nirvana of my generation. Unlike a lot of bands right now, they have a distinct sound constantly. Also, their accessibility definitely shows they have the spirit of Nirvana and all the other bands then. It's a breath of fresh air in this music culture we have right now.

3. VIVIAN GIRLS- I Heard You Say
I have been listening to so much Vivian Girls lately. They're quite lovely! I Heard You Say fits my moods lately, along with most of their other songs. What can I say? I like my music moody.

4. TITUS ANDRONICUS- Breed (Nirvana cover)
When you cover a Nirvana song it's going to sound good because you're covering a Nirvana song. Titus Andronicus completely covers this song in the best way possible-they didn't tweak it, but they sort of gave it a newer energy which was the point of Newermind.

5. YUCK- Georgia
This song is adorable, I probably listened to this song (along with all their others) 100 times this past summer. In between all the more bummer-type love songs and songs in general it's nice to have a faster, upbeat one like this in the mix.

6. DEERHOOF- Milkman
In the beginning of summer at Amoeba I decided to choose a random Deerhoof album. I had only heard a few of there songs but really liked the songs that I had heard. I decided on Milkman and I'm so grateful I did, it's one of my favorite albums for sure.

7. BRATMOBILE- What's Wrong With You?
Possibly the most clever, right lyrics ever? Oh yeah, the sound is pretty fantastic as well. Bratmobile, I love you.

8. BLEACHED- Think of You
This band rocks really hard. The video for this is both bad ass and adorable, you must watch it.

9. WAVVES- I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl
With a song title like this can you really go wrong? This song is pretty good, it's definitely very catchy and poppy. Wavves has definitely transformed sound wise in the past few years.

10. BEST COAST- How They Want Me to Be
You guys know I love BC. I have dibs on them. I've been loving them since the beginning. Anyways, this song I stay away from when I'm in a good mood because it can bring me down. Such a beautiful song, though!

Enjoy!!
